Any UK readers who are interested in receiving free beauty and makeup samples should check out the website Latest in Beauty.
The idea is that you sign up and get to choose up to three sample size products every month from a small number of available items. There are three categories to choose from – Skin care, Makeup and fragrances, and Hair and body, and you can select one item from each category.
I recently signed up out of curiosity and to be honest I wasn’t blown away by the selection of items available, as they are not high end brands or even products that I would usually even consider (I am more of a Space NK girl myself). As an example, there were a few Mary Kay items and also Olay, and perfume and body tester sizes from DKNY. Some of the nicer choices were already all gone. But I still think it is worth a look as presumably the offers change regularly and better items may come up later. Also I love tester sizes and I hoard them because they are great for travel.
Also, it is not totally free – at the checkout you need to text a premium rate number which costs £1, then you get a code to enter on the website to validate your order so they send you the products. They also check your mobile phone number so that you can only receive one lot of freebies per month.
Some people actually sell free beauty sample items and products like these on eBay, but if you are a samples blagger you could do a lot better at your local department store or even at Boots. Space NK can be generous with samples when you buy something in their shops, but sometimes you do have to ask, and I do find that in general a lot of brands have been cutting back on the amount of free cosmetics samples they are willing to throw at you. Anyway, there is no harm in asking!
Gift with Purchase (GWP) items are also big sellers on eBay, and you can usually buy a good selection of GWP items from around $1 each from several of the wholesale makeup sellers featured in Cheap Slap.
