One of my recent posts was about now being a good time for wholesale makeup sellers to stock up on self tanning products because as soon as the weather gets better people will start to stock up on fake tan to go with their new spring and summer outfits. When that happens, you are quids in if you already have the stock on hand and ready to sell. You will have a much better chance of selling all your stock (and at a better price) if you get in first.
If you leave it too late you will have much more competition as loads more sellers jump on the bandwagon trying to sell the same products, which pushes the prices down for everyone. That means you could either end up making a loss or be left with stock that you may struggle to sell until next year.
To be a successful cosmetics and beauty products seller you should always be thinking ahead to stay one step ahead of the pack. As well as tanning products, gift with purchase (GWP) sizes also do really well in spring/summer if you market them as travel sizes as they are great for bringing on holiday. Perfume and gift sets are the perennial favourites for Christmas, and you should start thinking about your Christmas stock no later than August/September. Skincare sells well all year round as do slimming products. Hint – perfume and gift sets sell well for Mothers Day too!
